Friends Academy raises funds for renovations and teachers in less than 18 months
Read how Friends Academy raises the funds needed to renovate a middle school and bolster faculty compensation endowment — in less than 18 months.
Friends Academy is a small, independent Early Childhood-Grade 8 school in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Founded in 1810, Friends is a place where children are known, safe to take risks, and empowered to fully own their learning.
The Challenge:
When the Friends Academy board undertook strategic planning in 2021, two challenges quickly became apparent: the Middle School building no longer met the needs of today’s students and teachers, and faculty and staff salaries needed to increase if the school was to remain competitive in attracting and retaining best-fit educators.
The Solution:
Friends retained Capital Campaign Pro for help testing these and other possible campaign priorities through a Guided Feasibility Study. The Friends team distinctly hoped to secure enough funding to begin Middle School renovations as soon as possible.
“When we said we hoped to do everything in 18 months, rather than saying it was impossible, our advisor helped us adapt best practice to fit our unique circumstances.”
Jodi Pink, Director of Development
Capital Campaign Pro’s Guided Feasibility Study didn’t just help to clarify donor interests and sharpen the school’s messaging, it also revealed early donors and appropriate engagement strategies for each.
The Impact:
“Friends Academy has worked with Capital Campaign Pro for just over a year on an ambitious campaign with an extremely tight timeline. Together, we have successfully finished a feasibility study, pre campaign planning and the quiet phase of our campaign.”
Jodi Pink, Director of Development
“The campaign planning process used at Friends Academy demonstrates that even on the tightest of timelines, campaign best practice can still be employed—and to good effect. It has been a privilege to help the school’s campaign leaders make a series of strategic decisions about how to design and implement a campaign that is nimble and well-reasoned, fast and yet likely to succeed.”
Sarah Plimpton, Capital Campaign Pro Advisor
“Our advisor has supported us at every stage of the project and kept us moving forward and on task. I have no doubt that without CCPro, we would not be where we are today.”
