Anne Peyton
Anne Peyton has been working in all areas of nonprofit development for almost 45 years. She began her development career as a major gift officer for Dartmouth College and began working as an independent consultant in 1989 as Yellow Brick Road™.
Additionally, Anne has taught CFRE fundamental courses, regional fundraising courses, and public workshops for Third Sector New England (Boston). She taught for years with Christine Graham, worked part-time for Demont and Associates, and served as an interim development director for Vermont Law School.
Areas of Expertise
The metaphor of Dorothy and fellow travelers on the yellow brick road in the Wizard of Oz tells the story of Anne’s philosophy of service: acknowledge and strengthen intuitive knowledge in your organization and use our body of knowledge to embed expertise in your organization’s DNA so you can fulfill your promise to the world.
Anne’s passionate about donor stewardship, major gift donors, and engaging all donors as life-long partners.
Realizing that “A goal without a plan is just a wish” (St. Exupery), Anne trained in major models of strategic planning, from Future Search to Balanced Scorecard to Peter Drucker to Appreciative Inquiry to Technology of Participation (ToP). We all need a compelling vision for the future, and that vision is the selling point in any capital campaign.
With the same respect for training and certification, Anne became a Certified Professional Facilitator to expand her skills — her tool box — to create environments for easier discussions and more profound decision making.
