In this episode of All About Capital Campaigns, Andrea Kihlstedt spoke with Esther Landau, Senior Director of Advancement Services at the Arc San Francisco, about a $3.3 million capital campaign that had nothing to do with bricks and mortar. Instead, the campaign funded staff pay increases to reduce crippling turnover and shrank a waitlist that was keeping adults with developmental disabilities from accessing services they needed.
Esther joined The Arc San Francisco in 2021, bringing extensive experience in fundraising, communications, and nonprofit leadership. She previously served as President of the Golden Gate Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, where she led initiatives to increase leadership diversity. Prior to The Arc SF, she held development leadership roles at Pomeroy Recreation & Rehabilitation Center and The Walden School.
Before her nonprofit career, Esther was a professional flutist and educator, performing with chamber ensembles and teaching at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She now applies her creative energy to advancing The Arc SF’s mission of equity and inclusion for adults with developmental disabilities.
